Drawing a tarot card of the day, is that enough?

Of course, I really think it is the best way to connect with tarot cards daily and to start learning more about their symbolism and meanings, especially if you are new to the magickal realm of tarot cards. Drawing one card per day, is a fantastic approach to not be overwhelmed by the practice when beginning.

What do I need to draw a tarot card of the day?

You need:

My card of the day.

6 steps to learn how to draw a tarot card of the day

1. Clear your mind

This first step is especially important, you should leave all other thoughts behind. What’s going to happen next? What’s going to happen later? You need to just focus on the present moment.

Why?

Because you need to connect with yourself at a higher level to really let the tarot cards show you what they want you to know about you and your life. To help clear you mind, meditate if you can.

I find it works amazingly for me, as it helps me focus and calm my emotions, giving me the peace and relaxed state that has made my daily morning readings my favorite time of the day.

If you need some help meditating, try focusing on a candle’s flame to create a soothing, relaxed atmosphere, you can also try music or some essential oils like lavender.

You could also try closing your eyes, taking a long deep breath, in through your nose and slowly exhaling out of your mouth, while visualizing anything that is troubling you floating away.

2. Shuffle the cards

You can shuffle the cards in different ways. Some people shuffle them by spreading the cards out on a table and mixing them with both hands, while others just shuffle them the traditional way from back to forth using their hands. I prefer that way. I keep shuffling the deck until the cards tell me it is enough.

Next, I split the deck into three smaller piles and then I put them back into one pile, making sure to put them back into the pile in a different order than I separated them in. The card on top is the one I am going to draw.

If you don’t like this method you can lay all the cards face down of course, and use your intuition, choose one card that seems to call to you, the one you feel connection with.

3. Asking a question

Being a one card reading, you are going to ask one single question. I usually ask the question while shuffling the cards, visualizing what I want to know. How to ask the question? Asking the right questions is essential in having a successful reading and a connected experience with the cards. The question I often ask is?

WHAT DO I HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT MY DAY?

Asking similar questions is the best option as tarot cards tell a story and we need to give them the freedom to express themselves, rather than looking for a YES or NO answer.

4. Lay out the card

While shuffling the cards you should stop shuffling when you sense it’s time to stop, when you feel ready and totally focused on your question. With the card laying face down ask your question and turn the card over to see its meaning.

5. Read the card

Now that you have your card, you might feel uncertain about how to interpret it. Remember that when it comes to tarot cards there is no right or wrong, this is an important thing to keep in mind, we have the answer within us, and the tarot cards are an amazing way to unveil and acknowledge it.

That’s the reason why tarot cards are not only a great spiritual tool for divination, but also for our personal growth and our spiritual awakening. You are going to connect with your cards, by using your intuition, connecting with your higher self and exploring your true self.

The first thing to do is ask yourself, how do you feel about that card? What is the first feeling when you see the card for the first time? Is it a positive vibe? A negative one?

Before heading off to explore the meaning in a tarot book or online, open your mind and let your intuition connect with the card. Also, it’s a great way to learn all the tarot cards and their meanings in a relaxed way.

6. Journal

If you are a beginner and are learning tarot cards from the basics, journaling about your tarot card of the day is wonderful practice. Here are some tips on how to do it:

  1. Write the name of the card
  2. Write how you felt about it when you saw it
  3. Write the question you asked
  4. Finally write down the message you think that tarot card has for you.

Then, if you like, look for the card meaning in a book or online (soon we are going to create a section with all of the cards meanings for an amazing experience exploring the magickal world of tarot cards).

Am I done? What’s next?

This is totally up to you. After a reading I leave the card where I can see it all day long, using it as a reminder of its message and as special guidance for my day. I love it and it gives me a sense of peace and of belonging. Do what feels best for you.

If you love its message, maybe it’s exactly what you needed to hear, you could even keep it in your handbag or purse and take it with you wherever you go.

Consistency is the key

If you are new to tarot and you want to master your card reading skills, try the practice of drawing one card a day, you are going to learn so much about tarot cards from doing this, their meanings and what they want you to know to shape the dream life you’ve always wanted.
