How to do a Tarot Reading on Yourself featured

Do you want to become a tarot reader? Maybe you love tarot cards and you want them to be a part of your spiritual journey in order to get to know yourself at a deeper level? You can totally do that by doing a tarot reading on yourself. Let us see how to do it and become a master at interpreting our life path.

Is it possible to do a tarot reading on yourself?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions I receive regarding tarot cards. We think that a tarot reading is something we can do on others as we are used to see tarot readers do that for their customers. But the amazing news is that you can absolutely do a tarot reading on yourself and it’s the best way to start your tarot reader journey.

Why should I do a tarot reading on myself?

Because in order to open your intuition to the message’s tarot cards have, you should start opening your intuition to connect yourself with your cards and the world of possibilities behind their meanings.

Also, it’s the best way to practice as you are going to ask question after question and connect with many different cards and combination before reading for someone else.

7 steps guide on how to do a tarot reading on yourself

1. Relax

This first step will make a huge difference. Try to relax right before doing a tarot card reading on yourself. If you need special guidance from tarot cards, maybe you’re undergoing some hardship or perhaps you are under stress and worried about the future.

Shutting these emotions down, at least for a while, is a great way to focus on what you really want to know and to help us learn how to manage these emotional states as well.

2. Choose a spread

There are many different spreads you can choose to do a tarot reading on yourself. You can choose a 3-card spread, a 5-card spread, a 10-card spread or even up to a 20-card spread.

To start, the 3-card spread is the best way to get effective answers without getting overwhelmed by having too many cards to interpret.

The best thing about the 3-card spread is that you can use it to ask many questions.

Usually we use the 3-card tarot spread to have an insight about our:

PAST – PRESENT – FUTURE

but there is so much more to unveil like our:

  1. SITUATION / ACTIONS / POTENTIAL OUTCOMES
  2. YOU / YOUR PARTNER / YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR PARTNER
  3. DREAMS / CHALLENGES / TIPS ON MANAGING THEM
  4. WEAKNESSES / STRENGTHS / TIPS ON HOW TO BALANCE THEM

3. Asking questions, the right way

People often thinks tarot cards can tell them the date they are going to meet their soul mate, yes and no answers and things like that. This is the worst way to approach tarot card readings because the tarot cards are there to tell us a story and to give us insight.

It is hard for them to give you fixed answers when they are connected to your life path, the people that are part of it, challenges, emotions, dreams and so much more.

Asking questions, the right way is a must to respect and honor tarot cards and to connect with them in the best way possible.

How to ask the best questions when it comes to do a tarot reading on yourself:

I prefer to write my questions in my journal before I even begin shuffling my tarot cards, I have found this helps me to stay relaxed and focused before I start.

4. Shuffle and lay down the cards (face down) to see what they want to tell you

After shuffling the cards, asking your questions, and laying the cards face down, it is time to see what they want to tell you. How do these cards connect with each other? How do you feel about each card? How does this reading resonate with you?

Tarot cards are great because yes, they do give you answers, but they make you question yourself about your life at a deeper level, to get to know the real YOU, the one you try to hide from the outside world. It’s important to let your walls down and acknowledge who you really are and what you really want with the magickal power of tarot cards.

5. Telling the story behind the cards

If you need special guidance you can rely on a book. Many decks come with one for that specific series of cards. If you need more support stay tuned as we are going to release the cards meanings to help you dive into tarot cards very soon.

To tell the story you must:

What if I don’t get the message?

Firstly, keep calm and don’t think there is something wrong with your reading. When your reading makes very little sense to you, take a few moments and slow down the process, because there is no right or wrong, it’s impossible to have a wrong reading. When a weird reading shows up it means you are not ready to see the message, just yet.

If this happens to me, I will keep the spread down on a place that will catch an eye all day, when things seem unclear and making no sense.

I take the time to clear my mind and get back to the reading later, until I see what the cards were trying to tell me, but I was too closed to see it.

6. Interpreting the cards your way

It’s great to have a guide to rely on, but don’t force yourself to interpret the meaning using books or outside sources only. The best source to interpret a tarot reading done on yourself is unlocking your intuition and let your mind and spirit guide you to unveil what the cards are trying to tell you.

This is something that will happen over time, it’s important to start somewhere and the more time you spend with your cards, you will create a connection and a special bond with them.

7. Enjoy the ride

Enjoying tarot readings on yourself is the best thing you can do to master the art of reading tarots and to really give the cards the chance to show you more about your life path, your challenges, your past, your present and your future. Just keep doing tarot readings repeatedly especially on yourself and enter in a magickal energetic flow made up of love, respect and trust that the power of tarot cards will give you.
