So are tarot cards evil?
Nothing could be further from the truth. Tarot Cards can be many different things, a guide, a tool for personal growth, an ally when it comes to your spiritual awakening and much more. But an evil vessel? Absolutely not!
I have to admit that when I was young, I was very curious about Tarot Cards, their powers and abilities, I had always seen them when I was younger and this was before I really knew about them. I first thought Tarot Cards were some sort of a dark practice and something linked to dark forces because I thought, how could a deck of cards tell me my future?
But this was before I became educated, before I started practicing and before I really got to understand Tarot Cards as a unique and powerful way to connect with my inner self, with my intuition and my wisdom.
I studied a lot, I connected with different decks and with the cards daily, to really understand what Tarot Cards were and how I could use them to become a better version of myself.
Why do people think Tarot Cards are evil?
Many people fear having a Tarot Card reading and getting news about some tragedy about to them. Others think that Tarot Cards have the power to trigger something negative in their lives.
This is absurd, as something positive comes from the Tarot Cards, such as knowing the truth and knowing that we can hope for something good to happen to us.
They do not bring negative things into your life
Tarot Cards are an instrument which the reader uses to focus on what it is and what will be and to report it with knowledge of the facts to those who asked for the consultation. The fortune teller is also a bit of a psychologist, so they are able to go beyond what anyone else could see in the symbolism.
The Tarot Cards have been the subject of serious studies over the centuries and many skeptics have changed their mind.
Your free will makes the rest: 80% of the future can be changed
Many skeptics have not only changed their minds about the effectiveness of Tarot Cards, but now some of those same people do not make important decisions before they get a reading, to let the cards advise them of consequences of decisions before they make them.
It is not an exaggeration, I honestly believe that 80% of the future is modifiable and that only 20% is inevitable.
Our actions and attitudes have a lot to do with what happens to us in our future and knowing of consequences is always good, certainly not bad, especially if I follow the advice of the cards to improve my life for the better.
Tarot Cards tell you what MIGHT happen so you can learn a lesson and get advice from the cards and to reconnect you with the energy the right way to create the life you want.
What is the real danger when using Tarot Cards?
There are two aspects that almost nobody takes into consideration, but can be a real danger, the reader and the timing.
- There are time rules that a serious reader knows. You MUST maintain a time frame of 2-3 weeks (minimum 15-21 days) between the asking of the initial question and the re-asking of the same question. This is because the Tarot Cards have already given you the answer to the question and, just because you might not like the answer, continuing to interrogate the cards can only lead to the opposite result, that is, confused, untruthful answers or no answers at all. You must respect this “law” to leave the consultations in a peaceful way.
- Choose a reader who inspires your trust. How do you choose? Simple, a serious and trusted reader is one who brings you only the truth, the one who feels sincere, but, also expresses opinions as a friend and confidant, they are the one who does not invent advice, just to be paid.
- In some cases, the response of the cards is positive and for the reader it is a pleasure to confirm that everything is going well. In other cases, however, it can happen that the answer is negative and at that point the reader is at a crossroads, tell the customer what he wants to be told or what he needs to know?
- Remember that a serious professional reader reports what the cards say, even if this is not what you wanted to hear.
Does having the cards read badly or getting the cards read badly attract negativity?
No! There are many rumors about Tarot Card readings, and this is one of them. Having the cards read badly or having a bad reader does not bring negativity upon you, if you have a reading with bad news in it, it is just the cards advising you that if you choose a certain path, that there may be consequences.
If you have a bad reader misinterpreting the cards, if means you would be misadvised. False news has been circulated by the media and many by religious cultures.
That is why many people think Tarot Cards are evil, because many different beliefs associate Tarot Card to witchcraft and even to Satanism and these are myths that should be debunked so people can approach Tarot Cards in the right way.
Because the Church and God condemn all kind of practice linked to magic, the occult, and to cartomancy as well. The Bible says that occultism, esotericism, spiritism, divination, cartomancy, palmistry, astrology, witchcraft, satanism and similar other things, are practices that turn away from the light of God and will slide the person into a world of darkness.
That’s not true because the only thing that really matters when it comes to Tarot Cards is what you do with them.
How to use Tarot Cards in a safe way?
The relationship you create with a deck is so important when it comes to a safe and positive experience in the world of Tarot. I don’t think Tarot Cards are evil but I do believe in the power of energy so there are some things we should keep in mind when approaching Tarot Cards in the right way. These are the best two tips I have for you for a safe positive experience.
Never use a borrowed deck
I think it is of the utmost importance to have your own Tarot Card deck, I personally have 3 decks, and never use a borrowed deck.
Why? Because when we go for a reading, the reader must have a connection with the cards and you create a special personal bond when we buy a deck, and furthermore by spending more and more time with it.
Choose your deck and honor it
I must fall in love with a deck to buy it and by spending more time with it, I develop a special connection with the cards. Choose a deck that resonates with you, your energy and your own persona and be respectful honoring it.
Can people use Tarot Cards for evil purposes? Is it even possible?
In my honest opinion, I really think that if our intention is to have a healthy, positive safe experience when connecting and using Tarot Cards, then no.
I use my Tarot Cards as a source to connect with myself at higher level, as I believe we already have all the answers, but we need guidance sometimes to show us when to focus on the certain things, especially today when we can get stuck in frantic stressful routines and when we sometimes forget to listen to ourselves, our needs, our dreams and our emotions.
However, some people think Tarot Cards can be used as a portal to connect to the unknown and with the spiritual realm.
My family practiced witchcraft, so I know something about it. My relatives used to connect with the cards by knocking on the deck. They avoided doing readings on Tuesdays and Fridays because they would say “The cards won’t answer today”. I found that approach was a bit obsessive and if they had a bad reading, it was like a small tragedy in the house.
I thought this was so stupid and over the top. First of all, because you should not get obsessed by Tarot Cards, because you should only be using them as a guide, and as extra help because there is no good or bad reading. The cards try to tell you what you asked, and you should focus on living a better life because you have the free will to act and change things revealed in a reading or choose not to.
Plus, knocking on the deck? Prefixed days for a reading? Two things linked to superstition and to black magic which are totally out of context when it comes to Tarot Cards, in my opinion. To me Tarot Cards are a spiritual tool, a way to connect with myself, with my inner realm and for special guidance to help my life.
So far, Tarot Cards have always helped me, and they give me positive energy to embrace my true self and my dream life, which I am living, as I love what I do.
So, are Tarot Cards dangerous? No, they are not, because they help us understand ourselves better and where we can improve ourselves in life. Tarot Cards are a divination tool useful for understanding, learning and prevention. Many, perhaps too many, believe that the Tarot Cards predict the future. This is not true.
Tarot Cards hypothesize, based on the choices and gestures we are making in our present.
They want to warn us, sometimes stop us in time, other times just communicate that we are taking the right path to achieve what our heart desires.
Tarot Cards become pure and sacred if used to understand the present and not to scrutinize the future.
