By Ruth Ann and Wald Amberstone a review by John Gilbert "Tarot Tips" (ISBN 0-7387-0220-X) by Ruth Ann and Wald Amberstone and published by Llewellyn Publications is a compilation of tips for students and teachers of Tarot. Most of these tips were previously published in Ruth Ann's Tarot Tips Newsletter on Yahoogroups which is the largest Tarot newsletter available on the Internet. The book contains seventy-eight Tarot tips but many of the tips offer several different techniques. I didn't count them but there's at least a couple hundred different ideas here for both readers and teachers. The tips are organized into six chapters and an afterword:
Other Things You Can Do With Tarot includes Meditation, Contemplation, Creative Writing, the Story Circle, determining your Birth Cards, Tarot Personas, and Tarot and Coping. There's enough ideas in this chapter alone to keep you busy learning and improving your skills for at least a year. Add to that Wald and Ruth Ann's Year Long Tarot Spread and you can keep yourself very busy learning and advancing your skill level. Lest you think this book is for advanced students only, let me point out two important things: 1) Most tips can be used by beginners and experts alike, and 2) If you keep working, you'll soon be an advanced student yourself. Contact your local bookseller to take a look at this book and then add it to your professional library. Take a few minutes and drop by the Tarot School for more information about tarot classes and other learning experiences. |
