Intuitive Tarotby Richard Prosapio with Elizabeth Prosapioa review by John GilbertI first reviewed this book back in 1990 or 1991. It was a good book then and it's a good book now. Intuitive Tarot by Richard Prosapio with comments by Elizabeth Prosapio (ISBN 0-88079-495-X) is published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. and available through your local bookseller for $10.95 or directly from the publisher. Tarot can be used by everyday people in everyday ways to learn to call upon and trust our inner selves, that knowing we have all come to call intuition. So says the author in the 1995 Preface to this book. It's all about trust according to the author in his introduction. He feels we can trust our inside information 75-80 percent of the time. In my humble opinion we can trust it 100% of the time. What we can't trust sometimes are our own interpretations of this inside knowledge. The basic premise used by the author in writing this book is: The thoughts that enter your awareness when you see an image are to be trusted as true. The process is to pick a card, any card. Look at it and know you can trust the thoughts that enter your mind as you look at the images on that card. Here's an example: I asked the cards to tell me what's the most important thing for me to do next using the intuitive approach suggested by the above paragraph. The card I drew was the King of Cups. The first thing I saw in this card was the clasp holding a seashell suspended around his neck. My first thoughts were I need to shower and shave. Wow. I had an appointment in an hour and I needed to shower and shave right then if I was going to arrive on schedule. Oops. (Enjoy the laugh because this really happened to me as I was reviewing this book. Intuition always tells the truth is we just listen.) The author presents a few spreads and comments about tarot reading for yourself and others. But the real meat of this book is The Workbook. In this section the author discusses the Major Arcana of the Morgan-Greer card one by one. Then his wife adds a few comments from the feminine point of view. About half of each page us left for the reader to add his or her own comments about each card. The Minor Arcana cards are handled with two cards to a page, fewer comments and less space for additional entries by the reader. This is a good way to develop and enhance your intuitive insights and to develop an intuitive approach to reading Tarot cards. It's a great system for anybody having difficulty learning to read Tarot cards using any deck or any other system. [ Back to Index ] |
